2014 Specialized CruX E5 Sport Apex Disc

Take on the world of cyclocross with Specialized's CruX E5 Sport Apex Disc. Its stiff, light frame is full of 'cross-oriented touches like a shoulder-friendly top tube, internal cable routing to keep the muck out and lots of tire clearance for when it gets really nasty. Up front, the FACT-carbon fork boasts a tapered steerer for precision handling and quick cornering. To keep you rolling, the CruX is spec'd with snappy DT Swiss wheels wrapped with grippy Specialized tires, as well as a solid SRAM Apex drivetrain, sure-stopping hydraulic disc brakes and hand-saving gel bar tape.

I Love My Crux!

About Me

This is the most fun bike I've ever owned. I got the Sport Disc Apex. Ride is fantastic, hydraulic brakes are excellent - I ride in city traffic often and in bad weather. The braking performance is awesome. Light enough to carry up/down 3 flights of stairs to my apartment every day. Shifting is smooth and precise. Internal cable routing is a brilliant feature not just to keep the elements away, but it also makes the bike much easier to carry around. Can't recommend this bike enough. Nothing at all negative to say about it. It's an awesome bike. Looks great too.

Crux Crusade: Hydraulic Disc Fan Club Starter

By Usher

from Portland, OR

About Me

I rode this bike straight from the shop to do a cyclocross course preview on a day that was dry, course dusty. The next I raced ‘cross with it in the rain encountering mud. The first day I liked the bike, a lot. The next, I was DELIGHTED. Strengths: --Brakes are terrific and head-and-shoulders above anything I’ve ever ridden in wet conditions before. I am pleased they (Specialized/SRAM) are offering this on their lower-end racer and not reserving this technology for the high-end carbon frame/Red builds. I am looking forward to some Pacific Northwest deluges. --I am 172cm tall, short legs, long-arms, big (for my height) feet. I often deal with toe overlap (problematic on tight ‘cross courses) and find myself buying longer stems and pulling my seat back on many stock 54cm bikes. Not this one. It fit, straight out of the shop, perfectly. --The internal cable routing is cool. --Not a fan of shallow drops on ‘cross bars which again many stock builds have; you won’t find them on the Crux. Love it. Weaknesses: --Weight: the wheels are hefty. I look forward to upgrading them. At first glance, this seemed a bit expensive for a heavy, Al-framed, Apex-equipped build. Then, I rode it. And loved it. Best-fitting stock bike I've ever ridden with the hydraulic disc a huge bonus in managing corners and mud.
