Bontrager's Specter XR is a pro-level cross-country helmet, perfect for those who love a sleek, aggressive lid that offers the ultimate in comfort. Bontrager loads this helmet up with a huge front center vent to maximize airflow along with plenty of additional vents and internal channels to keep the breeze flowing. For a perfect feel on every ride, Bonty's Headmaster II Fit System provides easy-to-use, one-hand, precision fine-tuning. And for even more comfort, there are moisture-transferring, antimicrobial pads inside and thin, soft, flexible straps keeping the XR in place. You'll also appreciate the protective snap-on visor.
Next to the entry level Bell I have been wearing this is leaps and bounds above it in all respects. I sweat bigtime road riding and my first outing with the Specter shows it has exceptional airflow compared to what I am use to minimizing sweat even at low speeds. Fit is very comfortable via the internal padding and the adjustment is exceptionally easy using the dial at the back. It is way lighter than what I am use to, to the point I barely notice I am wearing it. Fits well over my Halo II sweat band I usually wear to keep sweat getting in my eyes. The visor is a tad flimsy but does the job I assume if riding off road, however, I have taken it off and plugged the holes with the two supplied plugs for road riding. Finish is excellent also with no sharp edges anywhere. Buckle is easy to use and straps are very soft and comfortable. Supplied instruction manual makes adjusting the temple and nape straps easy for the perfect fit. I believe this is a great bang for the buck upper midrange priced helmet. I like it, I like it a lot.
Bottom LineYes, I would recommend this to a friend
